Dear Parents,

I am writing to inform you that Mrs Mellor, our brilliant Deputy Headteacher and Co Headteacher, will be leaving at the end of the Spring Term to take up her position as new Headteacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Newcastle.

As you all know, Mrs Mellor has worked tirelessly as part of the senior leadership team to improve the outcomes for the children in our school. Amongst many other things, her research project to develop Mastery Maths has resulted in a significant overhaul in the way children learn maths and an increase in attainment at Keystage Two. In addition, Mrs Mellor has worked with many families to ensure that children are happy, healthy and safe at St Wulstan’s. She is a person who lives out our gospel values in her kind and considerate leadership.

Whilst we shall miss Mrs Mellor, we are happy and confident that her appointment will further improve the strong links between schools in the Multi Academy Company and we look forward to working with her at St Mary’s. It is always sad to see an outstanding leader leave the school, but it is a proud moment for our school to have such talent recognised.

Miss Whalley will be taking up the position of acting Deputy Headteacher for the Summer Term and we are in the process of recruiting for a replacement at this time. Miss Whalley is an accomplished leader, who has worked hard to lead the school in improving the reading and writing standards over the last three years as well as being the Keystage One leader.
