A message from our Family Support Worker...

Hello, 

I am your school's family support worker. For more information on my role please see the Family Support Worker section under the 'Parents' header on the home page.

I have compiled a menu of helpful links and contact numbers which I use regularly in my role. I would like to share these with you as I believe this is important information that we all need to know about. Hopefully you will find some of it useful. Please take a look below. 'Thinkuknow' is the education programme from the National Crime Agency-Child Exploitation and Online Protection (NCA-CEOP), a UK organisation which protects children both online and offline. Please click on the link for information that you may find helpful. 

 

NSPCC website has not only information on how to report suspected abuse of a child but holds advice for parents and carers. The website contains useful  helpline numbers.  

 

NHS Families' health and well-being service, can be contacted by phone on 0300 303 3923. Chathealth is a  0-19 health and well- being  advice text service. This service is available to parents / carers  by using 07520 615722, and for young people between the ages of 11-19yrs  by using 07520615721.      

 

New Era (part of victim support) is a domestic abuse service operating across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. Offering help to all those affected by domestic abuse, New Era provides free and confidential support for victims, perpetrators and their families 

 

Glow are a local charity who help support anyone affected by domestic violence. They can be contacted via their website findtheglow.org. or click on the Glow logo to the left. 

 

The National Online Safety website is full if useful information to help parents to help their children stay safe whilst online. It has extremely useful 'need to know' information about the latest apps  such as TikTok, Snapchat,Minecraft, YouTube, Instragram, Roblox, Fifa and lots more. Staffs Housing - a local housing provider who supply affordable housing in Staffordshire and Cheshire. They can be contacted on 01782 7445333 or please view the website via the link.      

 

Dove are a bereavement and counselling service for adults and children. They are based in Hanley and counsellors can come into school to  support children if appropriate. They are contactable on 01782 683155 or via the website 

 

Money Smart Families are a service provided by Aspire who can help families with a range of money saving tips, benefit checks, review of universal credit claims, completing benefit forms, looking into debt etc. Families DO NOT have to be an Aspire tenant, however  they must live with Newcastle under Lyme and be in receipt of child benefit. Money Smart families can be contacted at Aspire on 01782 635200. 

 

Home Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and export supporting helping families with young children through  challenging times. They can be contacted directly by families or referral made through school. 

 

North Staffs Mind are a local mental health charity who deliver a range of specialist support or people. They provide  advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health. 

     

    Young CarersStaffordshire County council provide tailored advice, training and information on a whole range of topics and situations for young carers within the area. 

    Internet Matters - supporting families with practical tips to help children benefit from connected technology and the internet, safely and smartly. 

     

    Childline is a counselling service for children and young people. It is a resource to help children and young people deal with any issues which cause distress or concern. Common issues include child abuse, bullying, mental illness, parental separation or divorce and other matters. 

     

    Action for Children - Parent Talk  - Down to earth parenting advice that covers topics such as nutrition and healthy eating, sleep, behaviour and learning, mental health and wellbeing, parenting and relationships an Covid 19.
