Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to St Wulstan’s Catholic Primary School
Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent, and we are delighted that you are considering us as part of your family's journey.
At St Wulstan’s Catholic Primary School, our mission is simple:
We come to school to love, learn and share in the light of Jesus.
These are not just words on a wall. They are the values that underpin everything we do, every decision we make and every relationship we build.
What Makes a Catholic Education Special?
At the heart of our faith is the belief that every child is loved, every child is unique and every child has something special to offer the world. We believe that each child is made in the image and likeness of God, with their own gifts, talents, personality and potential. Our role is to recognise those gifts, nurture them and help every child understand just how precious they are.
We want our children to know that they matter, not because of the grades they achieve, the awards they win or how well they perform, but simply because they are who they are.
Our aim is to ensure that every child feels safe enough to make mistakes, confident enough to have a go, brave enough to try something new and secure enough to know that they will always be supported and encouraged. We believe education should nurture the whole child: their mind, heart and spirit.
A School Family Where Every Child Belongs
One of the things we are most proud of at St Wulstan’s is our strong sense of family. When you join our school, you become part of a caring and supportive community of children, staff, parents, carers, governors and parish members, all working together to help children flourish.
We want every child to walk through our doors each morning feeling happy, valued and confident that they belong here. Our staff take the time to know every child as an individual and are committed to helping them achieve their full potential.
We also recognise that families are at the heart of a child's education. Parents know their children best, and we value the partnership we build with families. We work closely together to celebrate successes, support through challenges and share the many milestones that make primary school life so special.
Learning to Make a Difference
At St Wulstan’s, we believe that education is about more than academic achievement. We want our children to understand that kindness, compassion, respect and service are values that should be lived every day.
Inspired by the teachings of Jesus, we encourage our pupils to care for others, stand up for what is right and make a positive contribution to the world around them. Whether supporting a friend, caring for the environment or helping those in need, we want children to recognise that even the smallest actions can make a difference.
Our goal is for children to leave St Wulstan’s not only as confident, knowledgeable and successful learners, but also as thoughtful and compassionate young people who understand their responsibility to others.
A Wonderful Start to the Learning Journey
Alongside our values-driven approach, we are committed to providing the highest quality education. We consistently achieve outcomes above national averages, with many areas significantly above national outcomes by the end of Key Stage 2.
Our Early Years Foundation Stage is where this journey begins. It is a vibrant environment filled with discovery, exploration, creativity and growing independence. We know that young children learn best when they feel happy, secure and excited about learning.
We strive to develop a genuine love of learning from the very start, encouraging children to ask questions, explore ideas, develop language skills, build friendships and discover what they are capable of achieving.
Every child arrives with their own experiences, strengths and needs. We carefully support and challenge each child so that they can make excellent progress, grow in confidence and develop strong foundations for the future.
Whilst academic achievement is important, we also believe that childhood should be filled with joy, curiosity, laughter and memorable experiences.
Why Families Choose St Wulstan’s
Families choose St Wulstan’s because they want their children to:
- Feel loved, valued and accepted.
- Grow in confidence and develop strong friendships.
- Discover and celebrate their unique talents.
- Learn the importance of kindness, respect and compassion.
- Become resilient learners who embrace challenge.
- Be part of a community where everyone is encouraged to make a positive contribution.
These are the values and aspirations that guide everything we do. While no school can promise every day will be perfect, we can promise that we will work tirelessly to know your child, support them, celebrate their successes and help them become the very best version of themselves.
